Doing More For Our Planet
Leveraging the power of our collective of brands to design a more equitable and sustainable world.
To help improve the health of our planet and communities, we plan to:
Reduce carbon footprint
Reduce the carbon footprint from our products and operations by 50 per cent and aim to reduce the carbon footprint of our suppliers.
Design out waste
Stop using single-use plastics and substantially reduce all types of waste.
Source better materials
Use 50 per cent or more recycled content and purchase materials that are responsibly and sustainably produced.
Our brands have been working hard to design a more sustainable world. Learn more about our impact below:

Increasing recycled content
Muuto’s Fiber Chair uses 80 percent recycled material; Herman Miller’s Eames Shell Chair uses 100-percent post-industrial recycled plastic.

Diverting ocean-bound plastic
Herman Miller’s Revenio Textiles, Aeron Chairs, and Sayl Chairs top our growing list of products made with discarded plastic bound for the ocean.

Sourcing sustainable products
Our Ecomedes platform makes it easy to find, compare, and source sustainable products from across our collective of brands

Sourcing renewable energy
Two of our factories, accounting for a quarter of our total energy consumption, source 100 percent of their electricity from hydropower and wind energy.

Getting to zero waste
We’re reducing our reliance on single-use plastics by nearly 40 percent, equivalent to more than 250 tonnes.

Designing for end-of-life
NaughtOne continues its push towards circularity with collections designed to be easily disassembled and recycled, including Penny, Sweep, and Tier.

Leading by example
In 2022, we earned an EcoVadis Silver Rating, and our global retail headquarters in Connecticut, USA achieved WELL Platinum certification.

Embracing circularity
We’re helping to keep furniture out of landfills with schemes like rePurpose in North America and the Take-Back Programme by NaughtOne in the UK.

Reshaping shipping
HAY partners with Maersk ECO Delivery to provide carbon-neutral ocean transport for its products in Europe and Asia Pacific.
